BEGINNERS : MONDAYS 7-8 AT BUCKLERS MEAD
The 7-8 session on Mondays is a beginners-only evening class with a professional coach and a balanced mixture of coaching and playing time. This is where you can be sure of a welcome if you're not sure what is the rught level for you. Of we think you're too strong you'll get pushed forward to a different session. Players in the beginners session sometimes get to play on into the improvers session that follows.
We're currently offering a second beginners class 7-8pm on Wednesdays and this will start as soon as we have a enough people (so let us know if you're interested).
IMPROVERS & CLUB : MONDAYS & TUESDAYS 8-10 AT BUCKLERS MEAD
The 8-10 sessions on Mondays and Tuesday are for players who are strong enough to to play with (and against) stronger players. You can expect harder and faster games. There's no professional coach but there are club coaches and experienced players who can offer advice.
The difference between beginner and improver level players is you're a beginner if you're mainly hitting the shuttle up in the air - you're an improver once you're able to get behind the shuttle and mostly hit it flat or down to the spaces or the floor.
CATCHUP COACHING : SATURDAYS 3-4 AT WESTLANDS
There's a catchup coaching session available at 3pm on saturdays with Helen Manfield at Westlands. She can coach one-on-one or in groups and we could convert it into a regular class if there are enough people wanting to do it (so let us know if you'd be interested in that).
COACHING DAY : WEEKEND
Our "Coaching Day" workshop provides a "proficiency course" for club players, running through all the basic skills and tactics (developed from the badminton content of the old level 1 coaching courses). It's not suitable for beginners (you'll want a lot of the same material but presented at a more convenient pace) but is for strong improvers and club players, especially those who have reached their current level without lots of coaching. It's also good as a comprehensive revision course for players who have already been coached - things rarely "click" the first time you try them and this will help sweep up things you missed.
Let us know if you think you'll be interested and we'll try to contact you next time BEFORE we fix the date (so we can try to schedule around you other commitments).
COACHING COURSE : WEEKDAY EVENINGS
We also have an option to run a course with the same material as the coaching day but spread over six to eight weeks, making it suitable for for improvers and strong beginners being coached in the basic skills for the first time (because it's in bite sized chunks with plenty of practice time). We need a minimum number of players in order to run it, so let us know if you'd be interested.
