Shuttlebusters promotes and organises badminton coaching and practice sessions,
plus starter and taster sessions so that anyone can learn to play,
or get plenty of playing time and improve their game if they already play.
We also organise friendly matches and graded mini-tournaments
and support teams playing in local leagues.
MONDAYS :
|
From Monday 30th October we are 7:30-9:30pm at Stanchester in Stoke-sub-Hamdon.
This is a permanent move. We will not be returning to the other place.
Mondays are normally all year round, and at Stanchester we will be able to play on
bank holidays and during exams.
If you're not familiar with this venue you will want to take care to park in front of the sports centre
and not in the school car park.

TUESDAYS :
|
From Tuesday 19th March we will have two club nights each week with the addition of
8-10pm on Tuesdays at Stanchester.
The usual subs or pay-as-you-go options will be available, cash or online.

RULE OF SIX :
|
Wednesdays at Abbey Manor and Fridays at East Coker
have one court so we're limited to six players, except on match nights,
You need to book a place. Text message or WhatsApp are the best options.

FRIENDLIES :

Open Doubles means men's doubles, but including ladies if you're playing level (not front and back mixed doubles)
Note: We'll do mixed doubles too, but that needs to be in a separate event - let us know if you fancy that.

THURSDAY :

We have a friendly match/mini-tournament scheduled for 8pm Thursday 4th April at East Coker
for league reserves & near league players, probably open doubles. Outside entries are welcome (encouraged). Other days, dates and times are available
if wanted.

BEGINNERS : |
The beginners-only class was 7-8pm Mondays at Westfield but is currently closed.
We do now have the opportunity to restart elsewhere, but we need people to sign up wanting to play.
Now is a very good time to get started, or to restart, since lots of people stopped playing during Covid
and they're all rusty.

SUBS & FEES : |
Payments are online in advance “if possible” (I can provide account details) and straight to the cash tin otherwise.
Pay-as-you-go is 6 pounds a time.
A sub for the whole term in either of the Monday classes brings the cost down to around 4 pounds a time.
Matches and team practice are pay-as-you-go only.

JUNIORS :

Shuttlebusters is for ages 15 & up, but there is a good coached session available for ages 8-15 with
James Elkin at 6:30pm Fridays at Yeovil College.
Just ask and we'll pass your message on.
James also runs a session for ages 15 & up (mixed abilities, adults included) at 4:30-6:30, also Fridays at Yeovil College.

WEYMOUTH
|
There is another Shuttlebusters in Weymouth, and that's a club for juniors to play for fun. They have coaches and
links to training and county badminton if they're wanted. We'll pass on contact details on request.

CREWKERNE
|
The Racketettes is a Ladies Social Badminton Club 7-8pm on Thursdays at Crewkerne Sports Centre.
Beginners are welcome.

There's a daytime/lunchtime session 12:30 to 1:30 on Tuesdays at Westlands. Turn up, or contact us in advance.
